Methodology

The Government of Yukon operates snow and meteorological monitoring networks to better understand the evolution of snowpacks over time in the Yukon.

  • There are 57 active monitoring sites across the Yukon and nearby areas of Alaska and BC.
  • You can find more information on monitoring locations in the Yukon Water Data Catalogue.

Snow data is retrieved from snow and meteorological monitoring networks, cleaned to remove outliers, and published in CSV format on a quarterly basis. Location names are described in the Snow site descriptions CSV file.
